Good luck Loonachic.

After several traumatic failures, Im doing the same. Slowly but surely.

Fucking harder than I ever thought! First the illness. Operation after operation. The pain. The slow recovery. Then stopping the drugs. Does it ever end!!!!

This is the first time Ive felt like Ive had the energy to stop taking the morphine. The pain was too much. But now Im so sick of it. I’m determined to stop taking the stuff.

Today, every single movement has been a labour.

It’s extremely hard, but I made it over the worst part. Mark said it was one of the hardest things to watch me go through. I remember some of it. Like when I was on the floor flopping around writhing in pain feeling like my body was turning inside out.

The doc gave me the choice to ween off, but I told him no. Cold turkey was more my style.

Things I did while getting off of opioid.

1. Attempted to jump off my eleventh floor fire escape. I only dangled a little.

2. Large amounts of screaming and crying and breaking down

3. Wriggling on the floor for at least ten hours trying to keep my shit together

4. Almost broke another toe from kicking stuff really hard

5. Shook a lot (a little shaky right now)

It’s been since Tuesday at 5:00 pm since taking the last of the pain meds.

Now the Dr. is going to try a different approach (no opioids!). I’m still in pain, but not as much, and my head is clear. I didn’t realize how far in I had gotten.

Warning for those reading this…

If you develop a health condition that requires pain medications, be VERY careful with the meds. They work against you after a while. You do not want to go through what we’re going through if you don’t have to. Holy shit.
